Deacons Ministry

Serving God by Serving His People

The Deacons Ministry serves alongside the Pastor in caring for the spiritual and practical needs of the Ebenezer church family.

Grounded in Christian character, servant leadership, and devotion to Christ, our deacons support the Pastor and ministerial leadership while helping ensure that members of the congregation receive prayer, encouragement, care, and support.

The ministry is committed to:

Deaconess Ministry

Faithful Women. Compassionate Service.

The Deaconess Ministry is composed of faithful Christian women committed to serving Christ, supporting the ministry of the Pastor, and caring for the church family.

Inspired by the principles of Titus 2, the ministry seeks to model Christian maturity, unity, prayer, compassion, and service.

Deaconesses assist through prayer, congregational care, visitation, worship support, and other areas of ministry as called upon.

Their desire is to serve faithfully while helping strengthen the fellowship and spiritual life of the Ebenezer family.

Ushers Ministry

Serving at the Door with the Love of Christ

Our ushers are often among the first people members and guests encounter when they arrive at Ebenezer.

Their ministry goes far beyond simply greeting and seating worshipers. Ushers help create a welcoming, organized, and reverent worship environment so that everyone who enters can feel comfortable and prepared to worship.

With warmth, attentiveness, and Christian hospitality, our ushers strive to make every person feel welcomed in the House of God.

As Psalm 84:10 reminds us, there is honor in serving as a doorkeeper in the house of the Lord.

Nurses Ministry

Caring for the Congregation

The Nurses Ministry provides a caring and attentive presence during worship services, special programs, and other church gatherings.

Working as an auxiliary ministry, its purpose is to assist with the physical well-being of the Pastor, congregation, and visitors while demonstrating the compassion and care of Christ.

Through preparedness, attentiveness, encouragement, and service, the Nurses Ministry helps ensure that worshipers can gather in a caring environment.

Music Ministry

Worship Through the Gift of Music

Music has always held a special place in the worship life of the Black Church and in the ministry of Ebenezer.

The purpose of the Music Ministry is to glorify God, lead the congregation in praise and worship, prepare hearts to receive the Word of God, and proclaim the Gospel through song.

Our musicians and singers seek to use their God-given gifts with excellence, humility, and a spirit of worship.

Music ministries have included:

Inspirational Praise Choir

The Inspirational Praise Choir serves Christ by leading the congregation in praise and sharing the Gospel through music. With joyful hearts and lifted voices, the choir seeks to encourage worshipers and glorify God through song.

Houston Women’s Choir

Named in honor of former Pastor Moses S. Houston, the Houston Women’s Choir carries forward a meaningful part of Ebenezer’s heritage. Through music, the women of the choir seek to proclaim the Gospel, encourage the congregation, and offer their voices in faithful service to Christ.

Male Chorus

The Male Chorus brings together the men of Ebenezer in worship and Christian fellowship through music. With strong voices and joyful praise, the ministry seeks to glorify God and encourage the congregation through songs of faith.

Youth Choir

The Youth Choir gives children and young people an opportunity to participate actively in worship while developing their musical and spiritual gifts. Through songs of praise, young people learn that worship is not merely something they observe—it is something in which they can actively participate.

Together, these ministries help create an atmosphere in which the congregation can lift its collective voice in praise to God.

Pastor's Care Ministry

The Pastor’s Care Ministry provides support, encouragement, and assistance where needed in connection with the pastoral ministry of the church.

Its work reflects a spirit of Christian service, gratitude, and care.

Benevolence & Bereavement Ministry

Compassion When It Matters Most

The Benevolence & Bereavement Ministry provides care and support to members, families, and individuals experiencing illness, loss, grief, hardship, or other significant needs.

Through prayer, visitation, encouragement, and practical assistance, the ministry seeks to demonstrate the compassion of Jesus Christ.

We believe ministry is especially important during life’s most difficult seasons.

Trustee Ministry

Faithful Stewardship of God’s Resources

The Trustee Ministry helps oversee the temporal, financial, and property-related affairs of the church in partnership with the Pastor and church leadership.

Trustees are committed to responsible stewardship and sound management of the resources God has entrusted to Ebenezer.

Their areas of service include:

Financial management
Church property and facilities
Maintenance and repairs
Budget support
Stewardship
Administrative responsibilities

Their work helps provide the foundation upon which many other ministries of the church can effectively operate.

Culinary Ministry

Serving Through Hospitality

The Culinary Ministry serves the Ebenezer family and our guests by preparing and providing meals for church activities, celebrations, fellowship gatherings, repasts, receptions, and special events.

The ministry also helps maintain the church kitchen, food resources, and supplies.

Through food and fellowship, the Culinary Ministry demonstrates one of the simplest and most meaningful expressions of Christian hospitality: serving others with love.

Decoration Ministry

Creating an Atmosphere for Worship and Celebration

The Decoration Ministry helps beautify the sanctuary and other areas of the church for worship services, special observances, celebrations, and ministry events.

Through creativity and attention to detail, the ministry helps create spaces that are welcoming, reverent, and appropriate for the life and worship of the church.

Youth Ministry

Building Faith for the Next Generation

Ebenezer is committed to helping children, teenagers, and young adults develop an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ.

The Youth Ministry seeks to present the Gospel in ways young people can understand and apply to their everyday lives.

Our mission is to help young people:

Know Jesus Christ personally
Develop a strong biblical foundation
Understand their identity and purpose
Build meaningful Christian relationships
Discover and develop their gifts
Participate actively in the life of the church
Apply their faith beyond Sunday morning
